Roofing & Insulation Systems
Metal Roofing, Insulated Panels & Thermal Systems for All Project Types
The roof is a building's primary barrier against rain, wind, heat, and noise. From color-coated GI steel sheets in trapezoidal profiles for industrial sheds to insulated PUF sandwich panels for cold storage, clay Mangalore tiles for villas, and rigid EPS/XPS insulation for flat RCC roofs, the right roofing system determines weather tightness, energy performance, and structural longevity. Buildigo connects builders, developers, and contractors with verified roofing material suppliers for bulk procurement. Share your roof area, profile type, and insulation specification to receive competitive quotes.
Types & Grades
Types of Roofing & Insulation Materials
Color-Coated GI Steel Sheets (IS 14607)
Pre-painted galvanized or galvalume steel roofing sheets in trapezoidal, corrugated, and standing seam profiles. Specified by BMT (Base Metal Thickness, typically 0.47mm–0.60mm) and zinc coating weight (Z275: 275 g/m² for standard environments; Z350: 350 g/m² for coastal and industrial zones). Designed for wind loads per IS 875 Part 3.
Insulated Sandwich Panels (PUF / Mineral Wool)
Pre-engineered composite panels with color-coated steel faces and a rigid insulation core. PUF (Polyurethane Foam, 40 kg/m³) core panels deliver a U-value of approximately 0.25 W/m²K for 50mm thickness — ideal for temperature-controlled warehouses and air-conditioned factories. Mineral wool (100 kg/m³) core panels add fire resistance (Class A non-combustible) for pharmaceutical and food processing facilities.
Clay & Concrete Roof Tiles
Mangalore pattern clay tiles (IS 654) and concrete roof tiles for sloped residential and institutional roofs. Thermal mass of clay tiles reduces peak heat gain. Concrete tiles offer higher load capacity and uniform colour consistency. Both systems require a minimum 15° pitch and solid timber or steel purlin substructure.
Rigid Thermal Insulation (EPS / XPS / Rockwool)
Board insulation for flat RCC roofs and under-deck applications. XPS (Extruded Polystyrene): λ = 0.030–0.035 W/mK, compressive strength 200–500 kPa — preferred for inverted roof applications. EPS (Expanded Polystyrene): λ = 0.038 W/mK, lower cost and adequate for most applications. Rockwool semi-rigid slabs: excellent acoustic insulation and fire-rated for industrial roof decks.

Quick Reference & Selection Guide
Roofing Systems by Application
| Construction Work | Est. Requirement |
|---|---|
| Industrial sheds & warehouses | Color-coated GI trapezoidal sheets, 0.47–0.60mm BMT, Z275 coating |
| Cold storage & air-conditioned factories | PUF sandwich panels, 50–100mm core, U-value ≤ 0.25 W/m²K |
| Residential villas and bungalows | Mangalore clay tiles (IS 654) or concrete roof tiles |
| Flat RCC roof thermal insulation | XPS rigid boards (50–75mm) or EPS boards with waterproofing membrane |
Choosing the Right Roofing System
| Construction Activity | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Industrial shed / warehouse | Color-coated GI trapezoidal sheets (Z275/Z350 depending on environment) |
| Temperature-controlled facility | PUF or mineral wool sandwich panels (core thickness per U-value requirement) |
| Residential sloped roof | Mangalore clay tiles or concrete tiles (IS 654 compliant) |
